Is there any third party tool for migrating custom
reports , registrations from one instance to another . Instead of
registering them again and again
in each instance. I heard Chain Link Technologies had such a tool to migrate
set-ups and custom registrations from one instance to another.

Venky,
We use Chain Link to migrate information from development - test -
production. It does (I would guess) at least 90% all the migration steps
for you. There are some things that it doesn't do in its current release,
but they are always adding things... I hope this helps.

Hi Susan,
Oracle is trying to compete with SIEBEL in this segment. Though I do not
know how is it different from Oracle CRM, SIEBEL CRM is independent of RDBMS
and thus has a middle tier, its own tools and code. Right now I believe it
is way ahead compared to Oracle in CRM segment of the market.
I am only interested to get some information regarding interfaces if some
one is using SIEBEL CRM and ORACLE ERP.

Susan,
CRM (Customer Relationship Management) has been Seibel's business
for some
time. With customers going more toward business over the Internet,
eventually this will be big business. Oracle has recognized this. Most
products are geared toward allowing the customer to access more information
over the web. While Seibel has been in this market for some time, Oracle is
a new player, but with their resources and client base, I think they will
become a significant player. You can find out more about these products on
the Oracle and Seibel web sites. Seibel is not very happy with Oracles
entry into this market, and the two have been exchanging words lately. The
advantage I would give to Oracle for the future, because they also sell the
applications. Oracle also has a suite of Front Office products, Sales and
Marketing, Sales Compensation, and Service. These products also help the
client run their business more efficiently. For a client already using
Oracle applications, it might be easier for them to use Oracle's CRM. I do
not have experience with the Seibel products, but I know they are a quality
organization, and have a good reputation. I'm sure there will be more
opportunities in this market, both from a development and implementation
position. Because I have worked with Oracle's Order Entry and Service apps,
CRM is another area where I am trying to develop my skills. Hope this
information helps out.

FYI, Oracle also has a CRM suite (current version CRM 3i). It evolved
from the former Oracle Front Office suite. Naturally, you should expect a
higher
degree of integration with Oracle's backend ERP. Also, it has the same
technical architecture as Oracle ERP R11 and up, i.e., 3-tier Internet
architectured. For more info check out

Subject: CRM - siebel
Hi susan,
CRM is a segment which is growing exponentially. It basically deals with
customer relationship management and addresses the pre sales and post sales
activity. Siebel is the market leader, as it entered quite early. There is
tremendous demand for this segment right now. The other segment which is
growing fast is the SCM - supply chain management.
SCM - ERP - CRM completes the total cycle. it integrates the supplier and
the customer into
ones organisation to make it a seamless one.
This is the reason why, you will find that all the top ERP vendors viz SAP,
Oracle, Baan, People soft are adding SCM and CRM extensions to the regular
erp offering.
While siebel is the market leader in the CRM segment, Oracle has also
launched "Front Office" which includes a comprehensive CRM solution. This
broadly matches the features of Siebel and on top integrates with the Oracle
Apps. That is the plus.
If you have developed expertise in Oracle Apps, i would suggest, looking at
Oracle Front Office, as you can leverage on your existing apps knowledge.
Should you need any further clarification, i would be glad to help. please

Santos Ltd is faxing purchase orders from Financials.
Our approach was to do the following
JetForm to format our purchase orders.
RightFax to send them out.
Both third party software applications reside on an NT server which polls
Unix directories for data being provided by Financials.
We did it this way to avoid major customisations in our puchasing module.
We have added some minor code to PO to send data streams to Unix
directories via concurrent manager jobs.

Tomas,
I used APPWORX around 2 years back and found it to be a good product. You
can use it to schedule Oracle Applications and custom concurrent jobs. You
can also redirect the output of the program to different printers. I don't
remeber all the functionality now but it was a good product. They might have
come up with a new version by now with more functionality. I never used any
product other than APPWORX so I am not the best person to comapre
functionality.

Hi Susan
You can transfer data from an Excel spreadsheet to a Forms 4.5 form by using
the SENDKEYS VB macro. You need to write the VB program for this which
picks up each data in Excel and dumps it to each Form field.

I would like to let you know that I have created an Oracle Resource
Monitor (ORARM) that will permit you to monitor and identify all
bottlenecks within your Oracle Financials databases. This program
was created from experiences in supporting the largest Oracle Financials
installation in the United States supporting over 6000 users, involving
more than 18 Oracle Applications Instances.
Anybody is welcomed to download this program from this URL:
http://www.geocities.com/~binhtpham
The program is about 7Megs in size and will require WinZip to uncompress
it.
Please email the address on this web site to obtain the temporary
key. When you do this, please also specify your name, company,

Thanks.
