to_apps.xls & to_nca.xls on NT

Subject: excel to oracle - cut & paste
This is for all you to_apps.xls and to_nca.xls users.
We're currently using to_apps.xls (includes excel cut & paste
macro, send_rows) in a 10.7SC environment. The macro works fine
on our Win95 clients but does not work properly on our NT clients.
When invoked from an NT client, the form that we are trying to
populate seems to get overloaded (too fast). I've noticed that
there is a pause command (*SLn) in the NCA version but not in the
SC version and I'm not even sure if pausing between fields will even
do the trick???
Has anyone out there experienced similar problems? Any input
would be great.
Thanks

My experience is that the best medium to use is: WIN95 running on a 133mhz
machine. Anything faster or on NT bombs the macro.

I faced the same problem and pausing between each field for roughly 0.2
seconds solves the problem. there is a segment of code in TO_APPS.xls where
it pauses the sendkey after the database SAVE key stroke is sent. You can
just add the similiar to provide pause after each field.

Barcodes for various applications

Subject: barcode on invoices
Hi folks,
We are investigating ways to append barcode on invoices that are generated
for our customers. As part of the auto lockbox process, the bank that we
do business with requires bar code on the remittance portion of the invoice
so they can scan through the bar code reader instead of entering info
manually. We are using 10.7 16.1 apps on 7.3.3 RDBMS.
I'm assuming the following is needed to proceed:
1. a program that translate customer info (customer number, address,
company info, etc...) into bar code format.
2. Reformat our current invoice report to include bar code.
3. a special printer which can print bar code format.
There are probably several different ways to do this so feel free to share
you own experiences. Any kind of assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks much.

Hi Thai,
I had recently got some information from a company called Connectware in
Canada who are into providing the middleware between Oracle Apps and
barcodeware.Mainly they are into Inventory and WIP transactions but, I
believe with a little bit of customization, your issues can be
addressed. You can contact them and explore the possibilities. At present I
have their fax no if that is of any use (514) 287-7518.
Do let me know if they have anything to offer to you as I will be also
interested in the solution.

NCA Dataload (Excel to Oracle) not working

Subject: NCA DataLoad
Dataload Users (Excel to Oracle),
I've used Dataload successfully in the past within a 10.7 SC environment.
We are currently upgrading to
release 11 NCA using Internet Explorer 4.0 (with jinitiator plug-in) or
Netscape as our browser. I'm having a problem
running to_nca31.xls in this new environment. It is not loading data to the
form properly. I have the cursor in the field
on the form where I want to begin loading as well as have everything in my
spreadsheet highlighted for copy.
The first few data items within the spreadsheet are not being transferred to
the form which messes up the entire load.
As always, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
You can either email or call me directly.
Thanks

Erik,
What operating system are you using on your PC? I had a similar problem in
a 10.7 NCA environment when I was using Windows95/98. To remedy this I
started with a TAB in the first cell of my spreadsheet. Not the whole
column, though, just the first field. You can see if this helps. I found
this was not necessary when using Windows NT.

I had the same problem
To solve it you can try to start by a TAB and a back TAB (Shift TAB)
Hope this help

Hi Erik
I have been using the excel dataload macro to populate our chart of
account values. I was having trouble with the first record and overcame
this problem by placing a TAB in the first column of the first record.
All other records being uploaded did not have this TAB. The cursor was
still placed where you wanted the data to go to ( in my case the
segment value field).
I have started using the standalone executable NCA DATALOAD 4.0 and find
that is easier and more flexible.

Dataload Users,
Thanks for all of your input in reference to using Dataload within an NCA
environment!
I'm still having the following problem:
I'm using Dataload 4.0.2 to load Purchase Requisition data. I'm running
into a problem
when I get to a field in the form that is already populated (via the form).
I want to simply TAB through this field and on to the next field. Instead,
it starts copying data into this field and continues from that point on
never leaving the field. There are other fields on the form that the form
already populates and a TAB does TAB through properly. It's just this one
particular field where I'm having the problem. For you Oracle Purchasing
people, it's the Requestor field in the Requisitions form that I'm having
the problem with. It is not tabbing through this field and on to the
Organization field.
We're running rel 11.0.3 NCA and I'm using IE4.0 as my browser within a
Win95 environment.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Erik,
I may have a fix for this problem. One of the 11.0.3 pre-requisite patches
stops the TAB key from working in certain fields, which can obviously have
serious implications for DataLoad users. It sounds as if you have run into
this problem. Oracle have released a patch to fix this, number 857097. If
you find you can't TAB out of this field and that TAB doesn't work in any of
your flexfields then you have hit this bug.

Jonathan Stuart.

You might try putting a pause in the spreadsheet right before the field in
question. I am not certain this will work, but I have had performance
problems in the past that pauses have remedied.

ADI is your easiest tool. If your company did not get that some forms have
an export menu option. Check Action-Export and see if it is illuminated on
the form you would like to extract the data. In the absence of that, there
are numerous 3rd party tool you could use. Oracle also has a couple.
Discoverer would probably be the most popular.

An alternative to ADI is to use my 'SQL Link for XL' add-in for Excel. It
has the following features: (It is a free utility)
1. Native access to Oracle through OO4O.
2. Execute SQL stored in XL cells
3. Automatic range-names for queried data and 'sql link lookup wizard'
allows you to build non-symetric reports like BS & IS
4. QBE functionality
5. INSERTs/UPDATEs to Oracle from XL spreadsheet
6. Complete error control
7. Transaction mgmt (Commit/rollback)
8. Complete application development using XL Macros by using documented
macro calls.
9. Self-running screen cam tutorials and user manual
