I have seen this affect. I have also noticed that the responsibility list can no longer be shortened by simply typing the first letter. It now seems to require that I click in the 'find' text box, key my letter, then press enter.

I experienced what you did with the same combo, but then with 11.0.3 D2K 1.6.1 Patchset 6, the problem of

"I have also noticed that the responsibility list can no longer be shortened by simply typing the first letter. It now seems to require that I click in the 'find' text box, key my letter, then press enter."

went away. See if this is the case for you.

JInitiator 1.1.7 seems to prevent you from selecting an option in any picklist (not just Responsibility) by just typing the first few letters of the option name, and as Ernie said you now have to click in the find box. We have found this on D2K patch 6 and 7 with JDK 1.1.7 but it works fine with 1.1.5.

As I noted earlier, in our install, we noted this problem at 11.0.2, D2K 1.6.1 patch 3, and Jinit 1.1.7.18, but after getting to 11.0.3 and D2K 1.6.1 patch 6 we noticed the problem going away, it was fixed everywhere. We are running Compaq Tru64 (Digital) UNIX. Maybe that makes a difference!?

Correct ... now I here that D2K 1.6.1 Patch 7 is really required, but is does not seem to be ported yet for Compaq Tru64 UNIX. And that may be what allows the toolbar to have the minimize capability!? But everything else seems to work fine. And it actually caches the JAR files and launches MUCH faster.

FWIW: I have now tested 11.0.2 and 11.0.3 on D2K patchset 4, and the pick list behavior exhibits in both Netscape 4 and IE 4. Based on this, and Jonathan's results, it seems quite unclear as to why this happens. We are using HP-UX 11.0 as application server, BTW.

The word I got from O Support was that D2k patchset 7 was required for JInit or AV 1.17.

We are on 11.0.3/d2k patch7/Solaris - latest jinit I had until just a minute ago was 117151. I will test 11718 and let you know.

System Resources at Terminals

Opening this window may exceed available system resources. We recommend closing other windows or applications.... It then gives the options of Open or Do Not Open.

Some users have more problems with this than others. We have no other applications open on the PC when this happens.

What 'System Resources' are these (physical memory, virtual memory, low memory, something else)?

What, if anything, can we do to increase these resources? (Other than NCA)

Thanks,

Subject: RE: 10.7SC - Exceeding Available System Resources

There are various tools (some freeware) available to improve system resource allocation. In Windows 9x, system resources are a limited (64K?) set of memory pointers to graphical objects and certain other addressing pointers. A major cause of low available resources is memory fragmentation due to startup tasks. The system resources must reside in low 640K memory. So one thing to look at is what drivers are being loaded, what order they load in, can you load them in high memory, etc.

Check on microsoft.com for other suggestions, or alternatively, upgrade to NT 4.0, which does not have a real limit on system resources.

No expert in this mysterious area, but I do know that we added D2kinit.exe to all the start up files on our PCs and this seemed to improve performance on our less robust PCs. Our typical low end PC would have only 32MB and we have not experienced your problem even with Office apps running in the background.

Forms Server - Hang problem

We're an AIX 4.3.2 site running 11.0.2 of the apps and 8.0.4.3.1 of the database. Our Forms version is 4.5.10.6. and we're running 2.5.7.5 of Reports all on a single Tier. We've had a couple of "hang" situations where the app stops responding and bouncing the Application Server and the Forms Server solved it. Today we had a situation where the concurrent request screen hangs on submit when submitting a request for a report. Other requests would still run. I bounced the components one at a time - no luck. Bounced everything including the DB - it cleared. I do see some periodic core dumps from f45webm. Any ideas anyone?

Has anyone encountered the error "ORA-01000: maximum open cursors exceeded"? This in the face of setting our init.ora parameter max_open_cursors sky high and seeing no entry in the alert log when it happens, and not happening to ad hoc users submitting complex queries with SQL Plus. Definitely comming from Oracle Applications client side software.

hi parmesh

I cant remember but the exe ur looking for coems when you install the runtime forms for oracl applications, which are 16bit and hence create a cirectory called orawin, and not that standard orant (for nt) or orawin95 (for windwos 95+). once you install the runtimes youll have a program group created called oracle, in that you'll find an icon for oracle applications which uses aiap.exe , i ohpe this helps. look in the runtime generic cd you'll have two directories created from this one called orawin and the other apps10.

OraApps with Browser

Subject: Using Oracle Apps through a web browser.

Hi,

Looking for a little help. We are looking at Rel. 11 for evaluation and we are using a web browser rather than the jinitiator (for now). We can connect to and use the applications by going to the appropriate website using the host name (e.g. - http://hostname:8100/OA_HTML/US/VIS_s.htm), but not if we use the IP address of the host (e.g. - http://host IP:8100/OA_HTML/US/VIS_s.htm). We immediately get the message "The request did not specifiy a valid virtual host".

We aren't sure if the issue is with our firewall, our DNS server, or with the web application not knowing the IP address translation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys...

would like to know what are the repurcussions of having mulitple appltops on NT... since NT has only one environment active at any point of time...

We are having two appltops one for developmenty and the other for demo. both the appltops were installed simultaneously and demo was upgraded to 11.02. this instance is working fine.

On the development instance we did the smae and applied both CR and DR 11= 02 drivers. but the in the AR module all forms are giving a pre-form trigger, stating no data found..

does this have to do with multiple appltops?
ur help is verymuch requested.

Oracle on NT - some problems

Date: 7 Oct 99 13:04:00 IST
From: senthil senthilvenkatesh@usa.net
To: oraapps-l@cpa.qc.ca
Subject: Oracle on NT some problems !!!

Dear friends

some questions on installation...
How does one manage to setup separate appl_top for all the environemnt since Oracle Picks up vales from the registry and therefore one has to manipulate the FORMS45_PATH etc to point ot the correct appl_top .

I am able to connect to both the instances by starting seprate forms listener process on diff ports. I had read thro the doc made for SDC and understood that u have created multiple set of APPL_TOP

1. I had installed the Vision DB first and unloaded one set of ( appl_top s/w) against it and then run adaimgr against VD11

2. After the same I created another DB called DEVP and run against the standard steps.

3. Against the DEVP DB I unloaded the second set of APPL_TOP S/w and then using ADAIMGR run the requsite set of steps which then created the APPL_TOP and installed all requsite backend proc and packages.

The version of Vision DB was 11.02. The VD11 appl_top was 11.0.

On the vd11 appl_top I unzipped the mtce pack 11.02 merg directory and applied the cr1102.drv and dr1102.drv patch drivers to upgrade the vd11 appl_top to 11.02.

Once the appl_top was upgraded to 11.02 we applied the India Localization patch. Now the VD11 environment is working correctly.

DEVP appl_top was installed with a new user appldev and the environemnt was customised appropriately . The appl_top and other environment setting output is as enclsoed in the attch.

On the DEVP we applied the 11.02 patch using the cr1102and dr1102 drv files but encountered some during the running akload this was skipped using option 8 ( Hidden) of adctrl and then we tried to do the same manually.

but it did pop some error regd class def not found. On escalation to Oracle we found that this set some profile options which can alos be set in SYSADMIN resp.

But after upg to 11.02 we are facing major problm with AR module . No forms within the AR module works it gives

PRE FORM Trigger NO_DATA_FOUND.

All other modules are working fine.

We have not been able to come to the solution .regarding this

Now some basic doubts

1. How does NT handle Two appl_top . Since the path in form45_path cannot be set to both directoreies.
2. What environment setting was set using the batch scripts in SDC.
3. How were u able to upgrade the APPL_TOP seprately
4. Some people were of the ides that concurrent prog may give error if both appl_top are being used .
5. How does forms server resolve which APPL_TOP to connect to ?
6. If the environment setting is used then since NT only allows one login to be active at any time inlike UNIX how does one handles multiple environments since multiple appl_TOP setting and also Oracle_SID and other settings.
7. are there any checklist which can be used as a guideline to install to check along the way for any discrepancies.
8. What are the things to watch out for in NT installation since we are getting a feeling that multiple appl_top are not a very good idea.

help requested....thanks in advance
