Subject: How change Number of Lines in RAXINV.rdf.

I am trying to put more number of lines than 22 in Lines Repeating Frame of RAXINV.rdf. It is not working. It is still giving 22 only. I changed it to 45 in the properties of R_LINE_TOTAL, R_LINES, number of records per page but still it is 45. May be somebody has quick answere due to modification of this report and bumping into same thing.

Custom Menu

From: "Irani, Kermiz" Kermiz.Irani@boral.com.au
Subject: AOL: Custom Menus

Hi,
I am trying to work out what is the best way of defining a custom menu. The two scenarios I have are:

1. Define every menu as a custom menu i.e. even a submenu which is not changed, redefine with your custom name. This would mean you are totally upgrade safe? I assume this means when Oracle does add more functionality to a form or additional functions, you would not automatically get them on the custom menus & would have to add those in?

2. Define your custom top menu and then use Oracle std submenu's where you have no customisations. Define further custom submenus where you have customisations.

My gut feel is this would be safe for an upgrade but you will pick up changes to the Oracle submenus if there are any? I assume this is a good thing?

Any thoughts on what is a better approach & why?

Thanks, Kermiz.

For what it's worth, we use the second option - using standard submenus wherever appropriate. Neither option makes you "upgrade-proof" - you seem to always need to review your menus at each major upgrade. However, using some standard bits of the menus might help you through minor upgrades and patches.

HR/Payroll Gurus,

For some reasons client needs to keep the concurrent request Screen refreshed (every 2 minutes), instead of using control+F11. They need this only for payroll responsibility. We can pull the standard form and customize it. My question is 'Will this disturb the payroll performance?'.

I have created a Folder view of the Inventory sub transfer form in Inventory. I have set the Folder to be Autoquery Never, Public, Default. When I go to this function from the Navigator (after populating the Find window), my Folder opens to its full width, but it does not display all columns unless I reopen the same Folder. Any ideas?

Export functionality with IE4.01

I have the form version 4.5.10.9.1 and oracle asking for 4.5.10.10.2( Developer 1.6.1 with Patch set 4) to work right with it. Is there anybody around who successfully done export with IE 4.01 and without patch set 4.( or form version lower then 4.5.10.10.2)

Note : Right now it is not able to create a temporary.xls file in the user profile on client machine.

Subject: Re: export functionality with IE 4.01

Hi,

I have never had any luck using Internet Explorer and the export functionality. Both pre and post Patch Set 4. The underlying problem was with IE's lack of ability to graciously handle the "text/tab delimited" format being transferred by the PL/SQL agent.

The resolution to our problem was to standardize on Netscape Navigator 4.5 or better (some use 4.5, some use 4.6). It handles the exports easily and graciously. (Both pre and post patch set 4, make sure you apply server 718365, server 768058, nca 768101)

A one-time setup step is needed in order to associate Excel and Text/Tab delimited files during the "Pick Application" of the netscape download. After having down this once, the rest of exports worked flawlessly. And Netscape 4.5 is free with no licensing issues now (I guess there may have been corporate licensing issues in the past, but no longer).

Sorry I couldn't help with IE, but been there, done that. Could make it work sometimes, but then it broke, an it wasn't worth the effort. We had more important issues to take care of than to make it work with IE.

Hope this helps, Steve Deackoff

Hi,

I recently upgraded our DATABASE to 11.0.3 from 11.0.28 and manually entered ( COpied and Pasted ) all the menus from DEV system as I was getting "FRM - 40375" errors in some of the menus when I used scripts.

Still I am getting the same errors even after doing manually...... ( you can refer to my earlier posting saying "Script to transfer Menus from one instance to another "..... this script contains scripts also .....)

Does anybody have idea about this.

This is occuring in Menus in AR module..... And the instance on which I copied these menus is a blank instance.

Any feedback would be highly appreciated......

Instance name - add on Forms

Subject: Instance Name on Forms in R11 NCA

Has anyone successfully added the instance name to forms within R11 NCA? We have modified the app such that the toolbar includes the instance name in the title.

This becomes very confusing when someone brings up multiple sessions of the application (one for production, one for test, etc). Since everything is now a floating window, is there a way to add the instance name to every window that is brought up. I'm sure this is a common problem for many of us running R11 NCA.

Thanks in advance for your help!

We have 10.7 NCA, so this might not work for you--but we use the "Short Name" field of the Set of Books form (Setup | Financials | Books) to display the instance on most forms (i.e. "Prod. Main SoB" is the Production Main Set of Books, as opposed to "Pyrl Test SoB" which is the Payroll Test Set of books, for example).

Also, I've set the System profile "Site Name" to one of [Test | Training | Production] on our three instances. That way, someone doing "Help | About Oracle Applications" can see where they are.

After u get into the your responsibility sign on form, press function key F9 to get the list of values of forms functions..

Select the form function and go directly to the form with no navigation.

There is a drawback to this. If a form is listed more than once in your responsibility it will be listed that many times in the pick list. Therefore the pick list can be extremely long. This may not be problem in small responsibilities, but large responsibilities would suffer.

Anita,

Function key F9 is a short cut key for "List of Values". You need to use the short cut key for List of Values in V11. In release 11, if I'm not wrong short cut key for "List of Values" is "Ctrl + L".

The other alternate for this is that got to menu:
Help -- Keyboard Help...

Here you can look for "List of Values" and corresponding Key for it.

I'm designing a form in Forms 4.5 that is used to query, update and insert records into a custom table. This custom table stores the ids for items that exist in other tables.

Using a post-query trigger, I'm populating the fields from the other tables. I want the user to be able to query on the non-base table fields. I put a where statement in my post-query trigger that looks like:

and ra_customers.customer_name like :blockname.customer_name || '%'

but it doesn't work.

Any ideas?

We have one user, when using the transaction summary screen, and hitting adjust, who was receiving a FRM-41045. Others with the same responsiblity were fine. What we found was that this user had a default folder with Autoquery set to 'NO' for the intermediate form which pops up in between transaction summary, and the actual 'adjust' form. We removed the default, and the process works fine. The dilemma now, of course is how do we have a default folder set up for a form, then if the form is used by another process -- how do we keep them from interacting with each other. I.E., we want the best of both worlds. Any ideas or work arounds? - - thanks!!!

Assuming that the other process accessing the form is another responsibility, you can define a folder and assign it to a responsibility in sysadmin. This way you have the best of both worlds.

Hi Jerry,

We are on 10.7 SC GUI Prod 16.1 with Forms 4.5.

It is possible to export from an Apps form that has multiple rows in its layout, by selecting Action- Export and choosing "Export to a Text File". After the export is complete, u can open the Text file in Excel.

I tried exporting a batch of invoices from AP to a text file and it came out correctly.

For exporting to Excel directly, U should open a blank worksheet and keep Excel window maximized at the Apps window on top of it and then try exporting from Apps forms.

I see two limitations:
1. Exporting large no. of rows to a text file may return an error.
2. Exporting to Excel, doesn't work properly. It gives the "F45 run" Error.

Tell me if this works with Forms 5.0
