Import Microsoft Excel time entry data into Paymix table

Subject: [orahrms-l] Automating Paymix Table
From: "Shrestha, Amal" AShresth@JPI.com

We are on Oracle HMRS 10.7. We would like to import Microsoft Excel time entry data into Paymix table and continue with validation/transfer processes.

Please let me know if there is anyone who has developed ways to do this. If you have, I would appreciate you helping defining formats and procedures to import this data into ORACLE.

Thanks!

Amal:

You will want to write to the tables pay_pdt_batch_headers, pay_pdt_batch_lines, & pay_pdt_batch_checks. As far as procedures are concerned, I attempt to organize batches based on work locations and/or on who is the payroll manager responsible for approval. You will want to create a naming convention for the batch names so that it is easy for a payroll manager to identify batches from one location to another and one week from another, etc. Please feel free to give me a call, and I will help you to strategize further.

Good luck,
Ken

If you apply all of the mandatory patches for 11.03 listed on Oracle's ftp site, one of them is 850621 - this is the Cobol Vertex code. Along with this, you need the latest monthly .dat file that comes directly from Vertex.

Subject: [orahrms-l] legacy data

What is the preferred(best) method of loading legacy data into the HRMS database(vers 11.02)?
I have read about the API's. Does anyone have sample SQL programs I could review for ideas? I'm fairly new with SQL. Thanks for your help.

Janet:

Either use the API's, Data Pump (fancy term for API's) or direct enter the data using the various Oracle HRMS forms.

If you do not have a great amount of data, then direct entry is the best. You can also use it as a training vehicle for the HR department as well as anyone else that will use the system.

Load Positions - ORA-06508 error

Subject: [orahrms-l] error with loading positions using hr_position_api.create_position

Hi All,

We had no problems in loading positions using HR_POSITION_API.CREATE_POSITION until yesterday.

But when we try to load new set of positions, it gives an error (ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called).

Did anyone face this kind of error or situation.

Thanks in advance.
