Interface of HR with i Benefits

Subject: [orahrms-l] i Benefits with Oracle HR?
From: "Jewell, Sharon L" sljewell@kpmg.com

Has anyone implemented i Benefits with Oracle HR? A small enterprise (300 ees) I am working with is considering interfacing this application with Oracle HR. This application offers the ability for the employees to directly select benefit choices then produces a statement of their choices and the $ impact on their paycheck. I wondered how reliable this application is and how well the i Benefit interfaces work with Oracle.

Subject: interface issues??

Hi All,
We are in the process of desiging the check printing interface with one of the third party s/w . Will someone pls suggest what all steps need to be done to take care of the interface of the file coming from Oracle Check Writer and the third party s/w. I mean do I need to look at the .rdf files for check printing and deposit advice printing and determine what all is printed where?? or can I do without that.

thanks a lot in advance..

Manu,
We are also using a third party vendor (two in fact) to print our checks. It was extremely important to them that we tell them what was where in the output file. Also, make sure that your test file accounts for all the possibilities.

I.E. :
Direct Deposit vs. Check
Fully populated earnings and deductions
Fully populated address lines
Minimal address
Minimal earnings/deductions
Message line(s) if applicable
Etc., etc., etc.

Interface Payroll with Pro Business

Subject: Interfacing to Pro Business

Is anyone interfacing Oracle Payroll to Pro Business for tax filings? Any experiences (good or bad)? We are especially interested in hearing how the year end process was approached and how it went.

Thanks,
Alice

Alice,

We are currently running 10.7 SC Prod. 16.1, and we interface to Pro Business. I can't say that all of our experiences have been good, but I'm not sure if some are self-inflicted. We had a 3rd party write our interface, and I think that's where our problems began. I think it's always best to have the knowledge in house whenever possible. When we interface after each payroll, we don't get a detailed breakdown report of where the numbers are coming from. For instance, it would've been nice for balancing reasons, if when we interface, we knew exactly what employees and what action types (quick pays, reversals, etc.) were being picked up in the interface. Balancing is by far our biggest problem because we don't have that detailed breakdown of what we're sending to PB. As far as PB filing on our behalf, I don't think we've had any issues. They did our state tax filings for last year in February, but we did our own W-2's. They've always been on time and have been good with coming to our site to meet in person.

If I could give you one piece of advice, it would be to have an in-house developer write the interface and also to write a report that shows the detail of the figures you'll be transmitting to PB. Feel free to call with any other questions.

Payroll interface with Outsourced Payroll

Subject: [orahrms-l] Co-existence of Oracle Payroll and Payroll Outsourcer

I have a client that is considering implementing the Oracle Payroll Application and interfacing the application to their third party Payroll outsourcer - at least for another year or two. I have some serious concerns with this arrangement, but would like to speak with anyone that has ever been involved in such an implementation. Can anyone offer any pro's and con's of this type of arrangement? If you have any input to this issue, please forward a phone number at which I can reach you. I need to help my client make a decision fairly quickly.

HRMS integration with Projects - Query 3

Subject: [orahrms-l] Projects to Payroll Interface

Hello folks:

We are in the process of implementing HRMS 10.7 SC (both HR and Payroll). We are already in production with Projects. We want to evaluate different ways of bringing the Timecard information from Projects into Payroll. We are all the time expecting that a process might exist either in Projects or in Payroll which transfers all the Timecard information from Projects to Payroll. But when we see in the system(both Projects and Payroll) for such kind of interface program we could not be able to find one.

Now the question is how other folks are integrating Projects to Payroll information. Do we have to build our own interface and populate the PAYMIX tables? or is there any out of box interface exist some where in Projects or in Payroll?

we want to hear how other folks are dealing the issue with Oracle Projects and Oracle Payroll integration.

Any comments or experiences are appreciated.
Thanks
Krishna

We are struggling with the exact same issue here at my client site. The only option Oracle offers to link HR/Payroll with Projects is Oracle Time Management (OTM). Timecards are entered here and there are interfaces that populate both the project tables and PayMix.
For various reasons, we are finding OTM to be cumbersome for heads down data entry. The autogen feature does not include default projects, so all timecards would have to be keyed. We are now exploring using Lotus Notes to capture the timecard data and writing interfaces to both PayMix and Projects.

Before going down this road, you should explore the OTM option. Even though it did not fit here, you may find that it meets your needs.

Hope this helps.

Well if there is no built in interface program exist, then we will follow the alternate route!. We have developed a Web -based Time Entry system (Web:Tea/Time) which integrates with Projects (and validates the projects info). So, we will build the interface to both Projects (which already in place) and Payroll and make the Web:Tea/Time as central point for all Timecard changes.

Any way I thank all the folks who provided me valuable information
