BOM limitation of 999 items at one level

Has anyone run into Oracle's bom limitation of 999 componets at any one level...I am running NT NCA...

If so, what did you do to get around this problem?

Thanks

I am not a BOM guru, and we have not run into this problem.

However, I have a thought.
Could you possibly create "phantom" or "sub" bills which contain perhaps common components which can be used on different assemblies? Just an idea...

BOM Configuration Control

Hello
I was wondering if anyone uses Oracle Manufacturing to track configuration of items manufactured? and How?

BACKGROUND

* Use Oracle MFG including BOM and ENGR modules
* BOM Structure has 11 levels
* A component at level 6 is replaced with a new item
* At level zero item, need to know which component was used at level 6
* Most level 0 items are assembled after we receive an order
* Many level 1 and below items are built to stock
* Need to know this today and many years from now in order to service units in field

TODAY

If we feel that we need to track this type of change, we change the part number of each upper level assembly when this type of change occurs. Changing one component can result in a couple hundred new items. Have looked at Oracle Revision Control, Lot Control and Serial Control but have concerns about these approaches.

Thanks

You do not need to change Item # at upper level when you change component at level 6.

BOM module allo you to record component change with effectivity date.

Using this feature will allow you to inquiry the BOM structure at a specified date and see which components was used in the past (you need the manufacturing date).

MRP will use the effectivity date to plan item using this date and change requirements accordingly.

I do know if it is a valid answer to your problem

BOM routing - interface with legacy routing

Hi Gurus,

We are intending to implement Oracle BOM. We, currently have legacy system at our implementation site to maintain routings. We are interfacing the legacy system routings to Oracle routings. But we are not able to update any changes in the system since, Oracle API (10.7) does not allow us to do so. Is there any work around to do it.

Thanks.
Satya
