How to use Leadtime Function

Date: Mon, 2 Aug 1999 13:42:08 -0500
From: "Allen,Stephen" Stephen.Allen@add.ssw.abbott.com
Subject: Offeset Leadtime Function for Oracle 10.7

We are using Oracle 10.7 GUI. We are trying to use the offset leadtime function that Oracle provides, but we have been unsuccessful. We spoke with a consultant who provided the following directions:

Ensure that the routing "Item" and "Operation" Sequence Fields were assigned to the components for each operation identified. For each of these operations the scheduled flag was set to "yes". The offset percents were changed to reflect the appropriate offset leadtime. MRP was launched and after completion, none of the needed dates for parts changed.

After completing these steps, we need additional assisitance. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi
Once you define routings, bills (after having proper values especially in operations where scheduled=yes) you need to compute manufacturing lead times, cumulative manufacturing lead times routines. Please verify. If you have any questions please contact me directly.

I'm not sure what date you're trying to offset to, but check the planned orders on the MRP, not the schedule itself to see if the offsets are taken into account.

Reschedule Actions in Planners Workbench

Date: Wed, 11 Aug 1999 16:52:54 -0500
From: "Magnuson, Todd" magnusont@FairbanksMorse.com
Subject: MRP: Reschedule Actions in Planners Workbench

Hello Apps folks,

We are looking for a way to accept re-schedule recommendations from planners workbench. When we rescheduled seven top level (firm) jobs in WIP, it caused recommended reschedules on 3000+ lower level jobs.

We tried going into exceptions, reschedule out, exception details, and selecting a few hundred lines at a time to bring up supply & demand so that we could "select all for release". This approach causes an error "FRM 40735: WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger raised unhandled exception VALUE_ERROR" or error "FRM 40735: FIND trigger raised unhandled exception VALUE_ERROR" It appears that about 90 records is the limit before the error messages appear.

Has anyone else experienced these errors? Is there a better way to work the recommendations? Is there a way to re-schedule a top level item & have the lower levels follow suit?

Our environment is 10.7SC on AIX
All Replies appreciated!

Changing Attributes from MRP to MPS

Subject: MRP:changing attributes

To make more of my finished good's planned orders available for ATP calculations, I have changed the planning attributes of 450 items from MRP planned to MPS planned. Now after running and new MPS and MRP plans, almost all exception messages for the requisitions of those items say cancel at MRP. The exception messages appear correct at MPS. These requisitions had been turned into internal sales orders for supply from sister organizations. I could sure use some help out this mess as well as a general description of the correct procedures when changing a items planning attribute. Thanks you much, Ted

Pegging to a Cancelled Order

Date: Wed, 25 Aug 1999 15:05:39 -0700
From: Todd Manley tmanley@zilog.com
Subject: MRP: Pegging to a Cancelled Order

Hello-

Our system is 10.7NCA, db 8.0.5, HP-UX 11.

I came across a unique problem with our MRP pegging functionality. With pegging turned on, I successfully found what order was driving my demand; but when I looked at the order, I realized that it was cancelled.

The sales order was cancelled on 20-JUL-99, and the MRP run was 10-AUG-99. Also, the sales order does not show in Inventory on the Supply/Demand form. The name of the form is MRPSCPWB, and the version is 6.0.311. Any help would be appreciated.

-Thanks, Todd

Subject: RE: Pegging to a Cancelled Order

We had a similar problem a few months ago where there was demand on MRP for canceled or closed-short orders. We worked with Oracle and isolated two scripts which will clean up the erroneous SO Demands and the erroneous MTL demand records.

The script to clean up OE Demand after an order is canceled is oe308164.sql (for OUR environment, which is also 10.7NCA on RDBMS 7.3.3.6 on Solaris 2.6) and is referenced in bug # 354306. Although these scripts are available, it still does not answer the "why" of this issue.

There is also a script in inventory INCDPG.sql which will delete records from the mtl_demand table. During one conversation with Oracle, they could not "recommend" that I run these scripts regularly to keep the junk data cleared away. But in another conversation a couple of days later -- with a different analyst -- he found a reference indicating this "should be run periodically" as a clean up exercise.

We are now running these two scripts on a weekly basis to keep the junk cleared out of our MRP. This may be unneeded advice, but, I suggest you follow up with Oracle on the validity of these scripts in your particular environment.

When you ECO a component in a multi-org environment, do you have to process a separate ECO for each Inv Org or is there a way to update all orgs with a single ECO?

HI

Even in Single org environment, ECO's are specific to each child organization.

Maybe you can try testing ECO at master org level. I think, to test this all attribute controls must be set at master level.

Anyone have any experience with Items disappearing from a Bill of Resources overnight? We now have two documented cases where an individual added items to a BOR, printed it (the items are there), yet returns the following day and they are gone form the BOR. We do not yet have any scheduled processes running, as we are still in development phase with the MRP and CRP modules...

has anyone tried using substitute components in the MRP plan? i have a scenario where the planned purchase item is part B, but can be substituted with part B1. a PO for part B1 is issued. is there a method where the planner can view the outstanding demand for B after deducting B1's supply?

Receipts - Reschedule

From: Pam Straight pamseven@yahoo.com
To: multiple users oraapps-l@cpa.qc.ca
Subject: MRP Rescheduling Current Scheduled Receipts

We are currently using Supply Chain Planning. We overwrite all with every MRP regeneration and we are NOT using Planning Time Fence logic(and do not want to do so).

Oracle SCP logic makes recommendations to reschedule outstanding Purchase order receipts, assumes that you will make the suggested changes and then generates new planned orders for an item.

For example: demand for item 123456 is as follows:

Sep 100
Oct 150
Nov 200
and I currently have purchase order releases of 150 due in October. Oracle will suggest rescheduling in the 150 to Sep and then suggest planned orders of 100 with a due date of October and 200 with a due date of Nov.

Is there any way to make Oracle skip the rescheduling step and suggest planned orders of 100 with a due date of Sep and 200 with a due date of Nov?

Thanks!

Hi friends,
its regarding order rescheduling report in mrp. This report shows rescheduled POs,the base table is mrp_recommendations and the details of po is taken from mrp_item_purchase_orders. this table only has po_header_id and line_id and i need to show the po number line number ,release no and shipment no. the problem is i couldn't find any link from mrp_item_purchase_orders to other po tables to find all details. mrp_item_purchase_orders is derived from po_po_suply_view and thats the thing where we can find details till line locations. problem is linking these two.(one way is matching quantities and need by date , and i am working on that but i think it is not fool proof) if u have any clue please reply me as soon as possible hope to hear from u soon.

gaurav.

All Oracle really needs to do is put the line_location_id in the mrp_reccomendations table, but as far as I know they have never done that. I thought I did see it on the OAUG enhancement list. If you do find out any more information on this I would very much like to see it also. We also have the need to try to tie the recommendations to specific PO line schedules and releases.
