Compatibility of ADI 5.0

Subject: GL: Desktop Integrator Product

Can anyone tell me if the GL Desktop Integrator product ADI 5.0 version is compatible with database 7.3.3.6 and and application version 10.7 (character mode). When speaking with Oracle Support on this issue, they indicated ADI version 5.0 was compatible, however we are having doubts.

Adding a new Hierarchy structure

Date: Tue, 20 Jul 1999 09:51:52 -0500
From: Sesha_Komaravolu@techsol.com
Subject: GLDI hierarchy editor- can we add new structures?

Currently on 10.7 NCA, with GLDI 3.2.0.1.5 where the hierarchy editor is one of the features.

We would like to add new hierarchy structures within the hierarchy editor to enable multiple structures to feed to OFA.

The default is the Standard Structure. Is there any way to add another structure and setup the same accounts in a different hierarchy?

Appreciate your help. -Sesha

Physical Inventory Feature

From: jteague@suburban.com
Subject: ADI: Physical Inventory Feature

We've just installed ADI 5.0 on our 10.7SC system and I'm reading about the Physical Inventory Feature.

I'm familiar with this as a concept from ORACLE INVENTORY, but not from ASSETS. ADI says the prerequisite is to "Open a Physical Inventory in Oracle Assets" I don't see Inventory mentioned in the on-line help. Is this really a 10.7 feature? What's the menu path to do this?

Can anyone direct me to any information/whitepapers on this topic?

Thanks
Jim

Drill Down on Balance Sheet Balances

Date: Fri, 6 Aug 1999 12:41:55 -0400
From: "Bain, John" JohnB@gsilumonics.com
Subject: ADI Drill Down on balance Sheet Balances

We are using ADI 5.0.2 with Oracle 10.7 NCA. I am having a problem getting YTD balances for Balance Sheet accounts. It seems that ADI drill downs will only show monthly activity and not monthly balances. We are trying to do a Balance Sheet roll-forward so I could use the activity and roll forward from the FY-Start balance, but of course I can't get the fiscal year start balance. Please help!!

Thanks, John Bain

Journal Entry Template - change

I have a pretty easy question regarding ADI that I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with.

1. Is there a way the user can change their journal entry template and have that template come up the next time they go into the 'Enter Journals' option...ie Change the Column Name from Cost Center to CO and decrease the width of the column??

The doco that I have doesn't talk about changing the template per se, it does say you can customize what columns etc appear but it doesn't talk about actually changing the properties of the spreadsheet.

Thanks in advance!!

sara,
The only way I know how o tchange columns etc. is to use the Excel menus. In a template, go under tools, protection and you'll see "Unprotect Sheet", once you select that option , you can maniplate worksheet columns.

Thanks. However, the users actually want to be able to change the template once and be done with it. They don't want to go in every time and uprotect the sheet and then change the column name. I can't figure out where ADI pulls the templates from and whether I can change them or not.

There maybe a backend update for this, but Im not sure what it is. Why not create the template ONCE, as suggested, then each time a user wants to start a new journal batch, rather than using ADI's ENTER JOURNAL menu path to begin, just open the BLANK journal entry template in Excel? Each time you will start with the same customized blank template and save the journal file to a different name, to preserve the orginial.

Security Profile Option - define automatically

Subject: ADI : Security Profile Options

We are running ADI v. 5 with Apps v. 11. In the ADI manual page B8 it is said that the Security profile options can be defined automatically or manually. Does anybody know how to create them automatically?

Asset upload - Depreciate value invalid

From: Sue Lynch slzippy@email.com

Subject: ADI + FA Upload Error

All,
Using ADI 5.0 with 10.7sc, Prod 16.1 and trying to upload a small amount of "test" assets into my FA system. I have created a "test" template model which includes the following fields:

Asset Creation Date; Asset Type; State; City; Store #; Major + Minor Category; Cost; Units; Description; Exp Acct; Clearing Acct; YTD Depc'n; Depc'n Reserve; Asset #; date Placed in Service and Depreciate.

The problem I am having is that I'm getting the error message "The value entered for Depreciate is not valid". I get the message whether I use the value "Yes" or "Y" for the depreciate field(all these test assets should be depreciated). And when I click on List of Values for that depreciate field(which ADI identifies it to have a LOV), I get nothing. Help!

Any suggestions or past experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sue Lynch

There is a patch that needs to be applied to 5.0 to correct some FA problems, have you applied it? If not I would suggest contacting Oracle.

Tammy,
Is this an additional patch to all of the others required for FA? I had a friend using the initial ADI 5.0 this weekend and it worked fine.

Sue,

We experienced problems initially when they added FA into ADI (not sure of the version number)in uploading when changing the template to reflect our needs. There is a cumulative patch 882165 for ADI that fixes a number of bugs and may help with your problem. In order to apply this patch for ADI you must have version 5.0.2.9.4 installed first. You may want to check your version.
