Subject: FA-2 Corp Books
Hi everyone,
The client here is on Rel 10.7SC, operating on FA, AP and GL. These modules
have been live since 1995. The requirement here is regarding FA, i.e to
create another Corporate Book which replicates the already existing one. The
diffrerence between the existing Corporate Book and the New Corporate Book
will be on the Depreciation rates only. Otherwise it will have the same
categories, prorate conventions, life et al.
My request to all you FA gurus is to suggest a way whereby we can replicate
the entire existing Corporate Book asset details into the new Corporate
Book. If only Initial Mass Copy worked for copying details from one
Corporate book to another. But is there any similar magic
available/known-to-exist.
Your assistance/suggestions/experiences/ideas for the above would be greatly
appreciated.
Many thanks

Asset Inquiry screen

Subject: FA - Asset Inquiry screen
Hi All,
We completed the Set up steps for Oracle Assets (10.7 SC 16.1)in the
Acceptance (CRP) instance and tried to enter a new asset.
1. I tried to enter Asset using Detail Addition feature. But when I
entered the Category Flexfield, it gave an error. FRM 40735 WHEN VALIDATE
ITEM trigger raised unhandled exception NO_DATA_FOUND.
2. I recompiled the Category Flexfield and it completed successfully.
3. I tried to enter the asset again, but received the same error
message as above.
4. I then entered the asset using Quick addition feature and saved the
record. The system generated the asset number 100002 and reference numbers.
5. When I tried to query the asset 100002 using the Asset Workbench -
Find option, I get the error. FRM 40735 POST_QUERY trigger raised unhandled
exception NO_DATA_FOUND.
6. I used the Browser tool and queried the FA_ADDITIONS and also
FA_ADDITIONS_V table and found that the record exists in the database.
I would like to know if anyone had similar problems. If yes, shall
appreciate solution for the same.
Best regards,

Hi all,
When I run Revaluation Preview report I get there next error: "Revaluation
calculation could not be done because this life was not defined for the
depreciation method of the asset"
Are there some restrictions of using Revaluation with Assets using
Life-Based depreciation method?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Account Generator/Unplanned Depreciation

Subject: FA: Account Generator/Unplanned Depreciation
Hello Everybody
I have two issues in Fixed Assets:
1. Account Generator:
When I transfer journals to GL (from FA) and then view them there, I notice
that all journals have a debit and credit to the SAME code combination (with
the exception of Asset Additions). Account Generator is setup with its
default process. And I have reveiwed the types of accounts in Book Controls
and Asset CAtegories and don't seem to find any problems there in terms of
the type of accounts that have been setup. I am still searching for a
solution to this cryptic problem.
2. Unplanned Depreciation:
Unplanned depreciation simply doesn't work. The error that the system throws
up is this:
"APP-48403: Error in Pre-insert trigger. Please contact your..."
We are on Release 11.0.2. Any help is highly appreciated. Many thanks...

For the first problem, try changing the Profile Option Account Generator:
Run in Debug? from "No" to "Yes." There could be a performance impact but
this should fix the problem. There is a patch to fix this bug but I can't
remember it's number.

Hi Thomas
Thanks. I'll check this out tomorrow. The actual problem is that I get the
the same Debit and Credit account value for the Natural Account segment
alone. The others are populated correctly.
The patch you spoke of - is it for the Unplanned Depreciation problem?
Thanks once again

There is also couple of patches out there for account generator. We had a
similar problem in rel.11.01 and in 11.02 and it was gone after the patches
were applied. I don't remember the patches number but you may want to call
Oracle support.
Hope this help.

Hi Carla
I have contacted Support. and the TAR is still pending. Hence the post. I'll
appreciate it if you can run through your records and give me a few pointers
here. We are on Rel.11.02 and maybe will be on Rel 11.03 soon.
I can't figure this out at all. The setups seem fine. All processes and
reports in FA complete successfully. The problem is therefore not native to
FA. Something seems to be happening on its way out of FA or into GL.
Unplanned Depreciation is ofcourse not starting up at all. Throws up the
error I mentioned below.
Any ideas? Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks a lot..

FA Reports - User exits FND FLEXSQL

Subject: FA Reports - User exits
I am working on FA reports customisation.
Source Asset Retirements Report. FAS440.rdf
The CostCenter value is returned from a formula column defined like this :
function ACCT_FLEX_COST_SEGFormula return Char is
begin
SRW.REFERENCE(:accounting_flex_structure);
SRW.REFERENCE(:acct_flex_cost_seg);
SRW.USER_EXIT('FND FLEXSQL CODE="GL#"
NUM=":accounting_flex_structure"
APPL_SHORT_NAME="SQLGL"
TABLEALIAS="dhcc"
OUTPUT=":acct_flex_cost_seg"
MODE="SELECT" DISPLAY="FA_COST_CTR"');
RETURN(:acct_flex_cost_seg);
end;
My requirement is to change the cost_center to sub account level. In order
to do that
i need to know the User exit source. (FND FLEXSQL). Where can i find this.
Can any one help on this ASAP.

Cost Detail out of Balance

Any suggestions?
Basically what happened was, we added some assets with the account generator
configured a certain way. Then in the next period we made some transactions
on those assets, such as adjustment, retirements, and transfers, with the
account generator configured a different way. For example, an addition for
$100 was made to accounting flexfield 100-110, then the next period that
same asset was retired in accounting flexfield 100-220. So the report for
100-110 shows a beginning balance of $0, an addition of $100, and an ending
balance of $0. And the report for 100-220 shows a beginning balance of $0,
a retirement of $100, and an ending balance of $0. Has anyone made the same
mistake and know how to fix the problem so the report is correct? Any
suggestions are appreciated.

Approval Number against the Asset

From: Neroli Anderson nanderson@swichtec.co.nz
Subject: FA: Approval Number against the Asset
Hello
We are currently implementing Oracle Assets in Release 10.7SC.
Our procedures require that a Capital Expenditure Request (CER) be submitted
and approved by Management, prior to the purchase of an asset. Each CER is
assigned a number. We would like to store this number against the asset in
FA. While we could store this number in the Descriptive Flex on the Asset
Workbench, this is less than ideal since this would mean doing most of our
data entry on Mass Additions, then going back into each asset via the
Workbench to enter the CER number. All other standard fields are being
utilised.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can help, thanks

Reclassifying Cap. asset to expensed asset

From: "Bevin Watson" bevin.watson@abs.gov.au
Subject: FA: Transferring of Assets
Fixed Assets, 10.7 (character mode) prod 16.1, current patch level.
Assets does not allow you to reclassify assets between capitalised and expensed
categories. (error APP-47863 and APP-47869). Despite this good advice, we have
a need to transfer a number of assets from a capitalised category to an expensed
category.
One option is to dispose of the assets and reenter them. Does anybody have any
better suggestions?

Mass additions - asset merge
Date: Thu, 1 Jul 1999 12:03:42 -0400
From: jteague@suburban.com
Subject: FA: Mass Additions
We are on 10.7SC and have over 4000 mass addition lines each month. We merge
many lines together,whereever CCID and invoice number is the same, however this
a very tedious process.
I'd like to hear from other users on ways that you may have automated this
process using SQL scripts to do the merge, or dumping out to Excel, summarizing
there and then reuploading through ADI, or perhaps ways to reduce the number of
mass addition lines.
Thanks
