Import approved requisitions

Date: Fri, 16 Apr 1999 10:30:58 EDT
From: Govathotiv@aol.com
Subject: RELEASE 11.0/Self Service apps

Folks,

In release 11 , web requisitions(self-service apps), in order to import approved reqs and create pos/release automatically, there should be a quote/bpo/template line or an autosource rule must be setup. I dont want to set up all items in MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS. I would like to use categories. If that is the case, should the item description on the BPO/QUOTE match the item description on the req interface table?? how would the sytem know the price and vendor info, if I use only categories to bring in the requisitions??

thanks
Vijay

Requisitions

From: Vince Bantilan v.bantilan@aaiate.com
Subject: Oracle Self Service Web Applications

Hello,

Our company is implementing Oracle Self Service Applications (Web Employee) and we are experiencing a few problems with Requisitions:

1. Requisition History by Preparer/Requester

Unable to view Requisition History when accessing with responsibility Requisition (by Prepare) or Requisition (by Requester). Query returns 'No records found'. This functionality works fine with Requisition (Full Access).

2. Requisitions

When creating a new requisition, we are encountering the error message: does not have a valid account. Invalid cursor. This is an intermittent problem.

If anyone else is experiencing similar problems, I would really appreciate any information that you can provide to me.

Thank you for your support,
Vince

Web expenses

Subject: Web Expenses

Hi

We are in the process of setting up Web Expenses. Followed all the set up steps given in the manual (roughly16 steps).

When I log into the Self service application I am able to see only Vision database (standard demo) employees and not my business group employees.

I have set the business group profile to my business group. Inspite of this I am unable to see my business group employees.

I am working on Release 11 on Sun platform.

I would be very thankful if somebody could give pointers to where I am making a mistake.

Thanks in advance.

Subject: Web Expense Reporting Login problem

We have installed Oracle Self Service Web Applications Release 2.01 patch set F and are currently running Oracle financials release 10.7SC prod 16.1.

After the workflow (version 2.03), Web Server (version 3.02) and web apps installation & patching, we are unable to consistantly login to the web applications using the default login web page. We can reach the page but 99% of the time we enter the default login/password (sysadmin/sysadmin) we receive one of the following message: "Document Contains no Data" or "Your sign in is invalid. Please sign in again."

We have applied the following patches:
Web Server: 724580
Workflow: 668409
Pre-Web Apps: 546639 & 454669
Post Web Apps: ICXPOST.drv, 590871, 489383, 751338 (patch set F) & 689376 (for invalid object)

Has anyone encounter or resolved this problem? Support has been working with us for 4 days but has not offered any solutions.

Thanks!

I think you need to set your default for login connection time as well as maximum connections. These are profile values I believe.

The default will then populate the Web User profiles when defined during setup.

Specifically, if you browse your ICX.ICX_SESSIONS table and compare the COUNTER column with the LIMIT_CONNECTS (setup in the Web User SysAdmin form), when COUNTER = LIMIT_ CONNECTS it zaps the session by setting DISABLED_FLAG='Y'. The COUNTER seems to increment once for each form opened.

If you aren't seeing any entries in the ICX_SESSIONS table, then the cartridge isn't establishing the connection via the OAS.

Hello -

Seemingly very close to having the server-side part of the Self Service Apps installed but we're getting the following error during either SetUpTest or trying to log in via the default htm file:

TESTING SSWA SETUP
APPS_OCI_LEVEL level set to 7.
This value should be 7 if you are using Web Application Server 3.0.x and null if you are using Application Server 4.0. If using WAS 3.0.x and this is not set correctly,go to the 'Java Cartridge Specific parameters' page and add a row which says 'SYSTEM_PROPERTY' on the left & 'APPS_OCI_LEVEL=7' on the right. If using ASR 4.x and this value is set to 7, then go the above mentioned page and remove the APPS_OCI_LEVEL row.

Does this error ring any bells for anyone? If so, would appreciate comment ...

Mike,

See the Oracle Applications Release 11 Installation manual. Ours is for UNIX and is part number: A57983-02.

The information in the UNIX one is on page 4-10, "Configure the Web Server", "8. Configure the Java Cartridge".

It's fairly straight forward. Hope this helps.

Anyone who enters customers in Oracle Service, that does not utilise Sales Tax Software/EG Vertex. How do u enter a customer and insert City/State/Zip if the quick pick for those fields only has approx 20 options. Can u set to dynamic entry or is there another way to get around this problem?

Service Order Screen locks up

Date: Wed, 21 Jul 1999 09:13:33 -0700
From: Karen Blackwell KBlackwell@rockshox.com
Subject: CS and ENG: long description text

We have been experiencing a strange problem and I believe I may have stumbled onto something.

When my users (in service) are entering an RMA or Service Order, they enter in Problem Descriptions. (Sometimes these descriptions are very long.) My service users have on many occasions experienced a problem where the screen "locks up". I.E.: they can navigate to different fields but cannot enter any data. Can choose menu options, but go nowhere.

Today, I had a user entering an ECR with a very long description for an RMA and the same "lock up" occurred. Now -- I have verified that the description fields in question are varchar2(2000). The RMA description the user entered was 725 characters, including the spaces. But, could it be the form is not properly coded to accept numerous characters?

I am running 10.7NCA on 7.3.3.6 Sun Solaris 2.6, forms 4.5.10.6.

Any advice out there? Has anyone else seen similar situation?
Thanks in advance.

Web Employee Expense Reporting

Subject: AP: Web Employee Expense Reporting

I am interested in hearing from any one who has installed Oracle Self-Service Applications and Web Employees and used them to enter Employee Expense reports via a Web browser.

I would like to know the hardware considerations, time needed to implement, the need for Oracle Work Flow, and any difficulties encountered.

We are currently live on 10.7 NCA: GL, AP, FA.

Subject: Re: AP: Web Employee Expense Reporting

We are in nearing the end of our implementation of the OSSWA web expense module and have been live with Release 10.7sc w/ GL, AP, PO, PA, CE & FA since 1997. Our implementation has taken aprox. 4 months with the 2 focused on requirements definition. This was done with 2 part time technical resources and one part time functional resource. We did have a few customizations.

You will need Oracle workflow. (I believe this is included in the price paid for the module.)

I have noticed the following problems during our implementation:
1) Support is terrible. None of the support groups owns the web applications. We were bounced around throughout the various support groups for the first 6 weeks of our project. (I=27d suggest AOL and AP for most problems)

2) Patches are hard to find. We are on release 2.0.1 with patch set F. Oracle support had no idea there even was a patch set specific to the web expense module. I found a document referencing this patch on Metalink and was able to convince them using the doc. We also had to identify a number of patches on our own or via documents found on Metalink. We are using Workflow 2.0.3 (also poorly documented)

3) The product does not work with database 7.3.4.0. We spent 3 weeks trying to get logged in before we upgraded the database to 7.3.4.4 and fixed our problem.

4) Bugs are very prevalent. We over 4 pages of bugs and fixes identified during our implementation.

Overall it is a bit buggier than many of the applications but does now appears to work. The functionality is also bit raw (thus the customization s) but is better in release 11.

Signon - unable to

Subject: OSSWA: Unable to Signon

I hope someone out there can help as WWS hasn't a clue. Here is our config (All running on same server):

Windows NT Server 4.0 SP4
Oracle Applications 11.0.3
Oracle WAS 3.0.1.0
Oracle8 RDBMS 8.0.5.0

We are having a problem when trying to log into the self-service apps. I can get to the login screen, but after typing a username/password, the browser just hangs. After several tries with WWS, they have sent me several troubleshooting guides. One of them says to try the SetupTest java app (http://myserver.domain.com:8000/OA_JAVA_SERV/oracle.apps.fnd.security.Setup Test) The error we get is :

Unable to initialize threads: cannot find class java/lang/Thread

All WAS settings have been verified by 2 different parties, and re-entered just in case. WWS support has confirmed that they are correct. Upon further investigation, we tried to run a java app from the command line with the following results:

e:\oa\orant\forms45\java java oracle.apps.fnd.security.AdminAppServer
apps/apps@VD11 STATUS

oracle/jdbc/driver/OracleDriver
Database Connection failed

Anyone have any ideas?

Be sure to confirm your tnsnames file on the WAS environment. If you set up a special account for the WAS listeners be sure the Oracle_home and other variables are set. The tnsnames file should be accessible to the WAS listener.
