Try changing rows on print style to 65 instead of 66.

Eva,

We had the same problem and we eliminated the reset string for the printer drivers. That solved the problem right away.

We have a similiar problem except the blank page is only coming from one printer. This printer is the same style & setup as the other printers and is printing the same reports except it comes out with a blank page. I've even check the configuration of the printer and it's the same. Any ideas on this?

Printing from a remote location not connected to Network

Subject: Remote printing

We are currently running 10.7NCA. We have a remote site that is not connected to our network. They access Oracle Financials through a dial-in connection. We would like them to be able to print within the application at their own site, to their own printer, which is not registered within the application, because it is not connected to our network. Short of leasing a line, what are our options? Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

Why not simply register their printer and define it to your apps server? If they can dial in to run Oracle Apps (unless we are talking Citrix) then they must have TCP/IP connectivity, and that printer could be setup in your network.

Registering the printer would be simple if you have just a few remote users. We had this kind of requirement once and after trying different option decided that downloading the reports to the desktop and printing using the printer attached to the desktop was the most simple and effective option. Since the Export to desktop functionality is already built into NCA, it should not be a problem, unless , off course, as Ernie pointed out...if we are talking Citrix.

Why not have them copy to text (special/copy) and then print the text file locally?

I do not know if this will help you out. We are in the same situation on 11.0.2. We installed WINLPD a product of RABOX (www.rabox.com) to our remote win95/98 workstations. By doing that, we can register their local printers in UNIX and APPS. if this will help you, I can give you more detail.

Calling Printer Profile Option

Subject: Printer Profile Option Question

Hi,

I just tried to call up the profile option "Printer", with the display of Application "Oracle Receivables", and I just get a list of values with all the printer. I already picked a printer for the applicatoin, but now I just want to call it up so I can view it.

Does anyone know why just application "Oracle Receivables" does not let you just view the printer associated with it?

Thanks, Bill

Bill,

Do a query for printer ie. %Printer% and you should get the printer associated for the application.

I did this with Application checked, and "Oracle Receivables" as the App. I typed "Printer" in the profile field, however when I hit find it does not bring me to the Profile, it brings me to a list of values. This only brings up the L.O.V.'s (printers) for Oracle Receivables, every other App goes right to the profile, and displays the printer.

If anyone can tell me why this might happen with just the "Oracle Receivables" app I would appreciate it.

Thanks, Bill

I suspect you have an invalid printer specified for that application. It is not supposed to be possible (through the apps), but I think that you deleted the printer which is specified at that level. Use SQL*Plus and look to see what is specified. Then verify that it is a valid value.

Thanks, but that's one of the first things I checked. This printer is still out there registered. It actually happens no matter what printer I pick (we have 20+ printers).

Hi Bill,
I just tried this on our sytem and it worked fine. Are you sure that you did not select a responsibility. I would suggest that you attempt to set the profile option for the application again. I am curious to know why you would want to set it for the application. Why not set it for responsibilities or site. We only have it assigned at the site and we ask users to change the profile. This is part of the initial user training for us. I successfully retrieved the printer set for the application using the query %rinter.

Laser Check Printing

Subject: Laser Check Printing

Hello All,

Just about a year ago we implemented Oracle Financials. We have just approved budgeting for a laser check printing system which will interface with our payables application. We are interested in printers as well as electronic payment software. Naturally, we would like a system that will seamlessly integrate with Oracle. Perhaps I shouldn't have used the words seamless and Oracle in the same sentence but I'm sure you get my meaning.

I would very much appreciate any recommendations anyone has concerning vendors and/or resellers.

Thanks, Mike

Not sure what companies I would recommend - you can call the Oracle Alliance Resource center at 800.323.7355 and ask if they have any recommendations of these companies...but here is a list of some of the partners of Oracle that have 'laser check printing solutions'...

Bottomline Technologies, Inc.

MHC Associates

SigForms

Hope this helps.

Hi Mike,
We're on Oracle Financials 16.1 sc and we use Standard Register which sells the hardware and software program to print checks. They come out and set up all the programming for the check format. We print to a Lexmark Optra + laser printer and have experienced no major problems with it.

Yes, Standard Register also can set up Payroll checks the same way. Ours is set up so that when we print our checks it sends it through a controller box/computer (I'm not sure of the technical name for it) which is attached to our printer through it's serial port. The formatting program is set up in this device. Other reports pass through it fine so you can use the printer for other jobs other than checks.

Printing an extra blank page

"Sue Lynch" SuEL@wma.clarkshoe.com 08/03/99 02:07PM

We have GL, AR and AP 10.7, Prod 16.1, WinNT environment. Question from users is why does Oracle print a blank page at the end of every job? Is there a way to have the system stop doing it? At my last job, the page at the end of job had some info on it like date+time run etc but result was the same we didn't need it. I believe it was Oracle's way to separate the concurrent printing jobs to make distribution easier but we're such a small group , we would prefer not to waste more paper.

Any info is appreciated.
Thank, Sue

Hello Sue,

We were experiencing the same problem. Our problem consisted of the following:

1) Some of the reports were using a style that did not exist
2) The reset code the printer driver was using caused the extra page to be printed.

When we corrected the above problems, the extra pages were not printed.
