Subject: Printing Time and Expense Reports

Hi All,
My client wants to print their time & expense reports and timecards to a local printer (at home), which is not a registered printer in Apps. Export to excel does not help them much, as it would not bring up the dates and some other stuff, also I can not do, Special - Copy File and print my report from the browser.

Can someone please email me directly at stamane@hotmail.com, if they have done something like this in the past ?? Thanx in advance.

Subject: Printing Color Problem

Hai All,

We have a requirement to print dunning letters on a color printer which should print information in red color.

We use Oracle Financials 10.7CUI on VAX/VMS O/S The printer does print red color when the command given from the normal prompt, but when printed thru Applications prints in black. I tried giving some initializing characters like 'escape Red' as suggested by Oracle Support in the Printer Driver Screen. This did not solve my problem.

Any further help on this issue whould be appreciated.

Hi,

Please check if you have the proper prt file under $FND_TOP/(reports or srw ).
If you do not have and want to create a new driver , create a new driver. For all init strings, please check for HPLJ5 driver settings on OraApps Search Engine.

I asked for HPLJ5 drivers earlier and got some replies. Also check if the printer is working fine with "lpstat -a printer_name"

Hope this helps.

If you are not trying out a NEW Printer driver file, most probably you might have given wrong name in Printer style/printer driver definition screen under appropriate name. You can check there.

If you are trying a new printer driver with additional escape sequences, you have to place that file in $FND_TOP/srw directory with an file extension as ".prt"

I have done this before. It is more of a post process but it does not allow print to be send to the print queue. The user will be able to select it but then they get an error in the request log indicating they are not authrorized.

You need to set up a new profile option that the admin will control with a Yes or No option. Now a small script needs to be created and set up that will process the print request including the new profile option. In the printer driver you will call this script instead of the lp command.

I am assuming you are on a UNIX operating system for your concurrent managers.

If you would like more info please email me.

What type of Report (STD/FSG) are you printing?. Check the style for the report if std. report. If this style is not defined, then it may not print.

Subject: RE: Printer - No output

Hi,

I always give the end users a type check list for different problems. May be, they look silly but it works out always:

If you are not seeing the print out:

1. Check if the printer is ON / working fine / Tray is not empty.
2. Check if you mentioned printer name.
3. Check if yuo mentioned copies or not....
4. Check if the output is being generated in the OUTFILE or not.
5. Try to print out the report onto printer using the command used for the printer driver definition:
like "lp -c -d"$PROFILE$......blah...blah..."
6. Print the report onto another printer to check if it is printing onto other printers or not...
7.Check if the printer is accepting requests or not using "lpstat -a PRINTER_NAME
from OS prompt....
8. Try to print a test page from prompt....
9. Check if the setting "Print Output" is YES in the Conc. Prog. Properties or not.

Others,
Please add if some more things have to be added to this CHECKLIST.
Above check list tells you exactly at what place the error occurs. For ex: you are able to print from prompt and not from report....there is problem in Application not at OS....

All the best....

Naqi,

You have to make sure that you register your printer name with the exact name and path of your printer on your network or it won't work. For example if your printer is attached to server1 and your printer name is printer1, you will have to register the printer name as "//server1/printer1."

You should make sure you can print from your Oracle server from a DOS window to this printer. This would be the first step to check. If the concurrent program completes normal it packages the file with a print command and passes it to the operating system. You are correct, for Win NT you need to use Print /D:$PROFILES$.PRINTER $PROFILES.FILENAME.

We also had to set up an IP address for the printer.

Once you have have established printing you will have to play around with the drivers. We had a 4000 N printer at a previous client site. We had a great deal of trouble printing to a network printer, due to the way the network was designed.

Hope this helps,
Richard

thanks for your reply, I have registerd the name exaclty as you've mentioned, which is //server/printer, however I havent checked throguh do like you have said. I'd jsut like to know how would i specify the command from the dos prompt, would it be exactly the same way i've defined it in the arguments, which is :

c:\ print /D: \\ntisb2\hplaser_IS filename

where filename = the output file created from reports? for example 3450.out ?

Evergreen Check printer not printing fixed stuff

Subject: AP - Evergreen Check Printing

We just got an HP 4050N printer and a Docuguard Box with a PCMCIA card containing Oracle AP Check setup from Evergreen to print our checks from Oracle Financials 10.7SC on an IBM RS6000.

The data comes out and the signatures but not the fixed stuff that should come off the PCMCIA card like the logo's, boxes, lines, "Pay to the order of", etc.

If we print from a SUN Box it works correctly, but from the IBM RS6000 it doesn't. We have the AIX printer queue set to pass through mode with the driver an HP4000 driver but it doesn't work.

Does anybody have an Evergreen setup to print your entire checks with signatures and everything working on an IBM RS6000. If so, what printer driver works and how do you set up the queue?

Any help is appreciated.

Tammy,
We use a different 3rd party package besides Evergreen, but when we switched from our SUN server to a RS6000, we had to get the check setup reprogrammed since the datastream had changed. It didn't have anything to do with our print driver or queues.

We are printing labels with Intermic 3440 label printers. We are using a solution provided by BPA Systems (http://www.bpasystems.com/). Their support has been good thus far, so I'd recommend you contact them to inquire about their shipping solutions. Actually the intermec printer is what they recommended to us. We liked their solutions, and their commitment to extending oracle apps (as a certified partner with oracle). We felt they would be around for a while.
