Project to Date Balances - how to get

Subject: GL: FSG Project To Date Amount Type
Hi Folks,
We are considering defining a Project segment in the Accounting Flexfield as
a means of supporting my client's very simplistic project reporting
requirements. (PA would be big time over kill!)
I am concerned that this will not support Project To Date balance reporting
since the beginning balances of all P&L accounts are cleared to Retained
Earnings at the start of a new fiscal year.
I noticed that there are Project To Date Actual (and budget) amount types
available in the FSG Define Column set form and project to date columns on
the GL Balances table. Does anyone know how this works? To my knowledge,
there is not a "project" flexfield qualifier.
My guess is that these columns continue to be populated with a beginning
balance plus current month activity, regardless of fiscal year, and are
based on the assumption that you would only use this amount type for project
related reports. Unfortunately I won't have a demo system available to
tinker with for several more weeks.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Please respond to my email
directly.
Thanks,
Bob Delaney

Subject: Info on Oracle Projects AMG
We are working on Oracle Projects Activity Management Gateway.
We want to import Projects and Tasks using APIs.
I want to know the step by step procedure to run these APIs.
If any one of you, knows the procedure or who are already used
these APIs to import Projects and Tasks, can answer my mail.
I am having the TRM for Oracle Projects Activity Management Gateway and
I also found a package called pa_project_pub which has all the procedures
and
functions.
Can any one of you explain me how to use this package in creating a
project or
task?
If you know the answer, you can directly contact me through my e-mail id

Vikas,
I presented a paper at two OAUG Conferences discussing this very topic. A
copy of the paper and code can be found at

I hope this helps...

Install Projects as Time Keeping Tool only

Has anyone ever implemented Projects as a time keeping tool
only??
My company is thinking of phasing in functionality of Projects
and
initially would
only like to use Projects as a time capture system. Can this
be
done
(i.e. don't generate draft revenue, draft invoices,
distribute
expenses, interface to GL, AP, AR, etc.)???
Any things to consider if or when the remaining functionality
is
phased
in??
Thanks for any assistance,
Bill Daily

Bill
You can start Projects with only capturing time.
However, you should decide how would you want to define projects types,
project templates and projects and tasks.
If the projects you set up today will continue to live after you go into
phase two of the implementation you better devote good thinking about
those setups, since project types affect a big part of the following
functionality.
For the first phase, you should not run the distribute labor cost and
don't interface cost to GL.
