Reports documentation

Subject: GEN: Reports Documentation

Hi All,

Did anybody use the Reports documentation feature in Reports 2.5 Designer successfully? The menu path is File - Administration - Report Doc - Portrait ( or Landscape ). When I try to select this menu to generate the documentation, I get an error telling some reports tables to be installed. Where is the script to install these tables?

Are there any other methods to minimze efforts to document developing/already developed reports in GL?

In windows 95 you can run "Report Build" followed by "Report Grant" under Start-Programs-Dev 200 Admin for Win95. After that you've to store the report in the database using Report Designer (File - Save as- database - ) Once it's done you can run the Doc. Generation.

3rd party barcode postscript fonts for Reports 2.5

From: "I. Gary Landis" garylandis@yahoo.com
Subject: 3rd party postscript fonts for Reports 2.5

I have purchased barcode postscript fonts to add a barcode to a custom report. After reading a number of Oracle documents on metalink, I decided using purchased fonts as opposed to using Oracle Graphics. We are using Reports 2.5 with Apps 10.7 on HP-UX 10.20.

After installing the fonts and changing the uifont.ali file, the field on the report is appearing in the default courier font. Output is going to an HP5siMX.

Fonts installed:

/opt2/oracle/product/7.3.3/guicommon2/tk23/admin/AFM
ll C39_8*
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle dba 2494 Jul 9
08:45 C39_8
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle dba 20715 Jul 9
08:45 C39_8.pfa

--- uifont.ali file change ------

[ Printer:PostScript1 ] # Put mappings for PostScript
level 1 printers here.

# Mapping from MS Windows
Roman = palatino
Script = "itc zapf chancery"
FixedSys = courier
System = helvetica

# Mapping from Motif display
fixed = courier
clean = times
lucidatypewriter = courier
lucidabright = times
#helvetica = CodedreineunPlain.9
#helvetica = C39_8
Code39Eight = C39_8

Questions:

Do I need to add the font to the ppd file? Currently our uiprint.txt file only has one entry:

lp000477:PostScript:1:Developers' printer on CPB
3:default.ppd:

I was told that when we had multiple entries in uiprint.txt, there were problems printing graphics. Our default.ppd file does not have any Font entries such as (found in hplj5si2.ppd):

*% ===================================
*% Font Information
*% ===================================
*DefaultFont: Courier
*Font AvantGarde-Book: Standard "(001.006S)" Standard ROM

The report I am printing is a modified postscript (bitmap) report using the option VERSION=2.0b. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Other info:

1. I have asked that the uifont.ali change be added to the Postscript2 section also.

2. The .pfa fonts I are ASCII based. Should I be able to load the fount using a lp command. When I do this the text file prints. The printer is set for autodetect between postscript and PCL. Why isn't the printer recognizing the postscript commands for loading instead of printing?

Hi

It's not possible to open BOMRBOMS (Billl of materials sturucture) report on client side of Developer2000, since there is a memory limitation (I guess 64KB) for each program unit to handle. Anyway use any X-WINDOWS emulated software so that you can directly open report at the server side. Here we use Hummbing Bird's EXCEED software to do that.

Rajesh,

If you open the report on the server, rather than on the client you will probably get over the problem.

Hope This Helps Mick.

RAJESH,
you are not using the correct 32bit version of report designer. If you use 16bit version then you would face this problem.

I opened this report in Report3.0 ver. after that i reduce the size (Actualy i delete unnecessary space and comments from 'berforereport' programme unit) of beforereport programme unit and then convert into report2.5.

View Reports in Wordpad/Word

From: IjlalR@mashreqbank.com
Subject: GEN: Using Wordpad/Word to view reports

Hi,

I know this has been covered before but I have gone through the previous postings and am still stuck with this problem so please bear with me:

We are on 11.0.2, NT. The users would like to use Wordpad or Word to view their reports. This is what I did:
In SysAdmin, Profiles -- System -- Viewer: Text and put in
c:\pathname\Wordpad.exe $$FILE$$
Same thing for Viewer: PostScript

Wordpad does not start at all and all I get is the usual Oracle viewer. What is wrong/missing?

Thanks in advance for your help, Ijlal

I'm not sure if this is the same in Release 11, but in earlier versions the profile option is 'Editor' for setting 'Word or notepad as the report viewer.

In version 10.7 SC we do the following to change viewer to Wordpad:

Under Apps10 File go to OACONFIG.ORA and open using wordpad. At the end of the file insert a blank line and type:
FNDEDCHR=C:\WINDOWS\WRITE.EXE $$FILE$$ or
FNDEDCHR=C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\WRITE.EXE $$FILE$$
Save file as text document and exit.

In Apps 11+, the Java applet cannot launch anything except the browser for viewer. This is being addressed, I hear, with a forthcoming patch. Any entry onther than 'browser' in that profile option causes the internal Oracle viewer to be invoked.

Thanks for the info. Do you mean to say that I should put the c:\pathname\browser.exe $$FILE$$ in the Viewer: Text profile option to start the browser? I tried this and I still get the Oracle viewer.

No, the word 'browser' and nothing else. All lowercase.

One more question so please bear with me. I do not get the default viewer now but a pop up: Could not determine URL for web file viewing. Where should the URL be specified?

Profile option: Applications Web Agent. This is a complicated process. Too complicated for this forum. I suggest you refer to your Oracle Apps documentation on setting up the Report Review Agent.
