What is your contingency plan if on Jan.01-2000, your apps are down for any reasons ??? We need to develop a detail plan and we have no ideas !!!

If your apps are down, I think your main plan will be to call Oracle and keep your fingers crossed. Some examples of things you might include in your plan are to record PO numbers on paper or in an excel file and hand write PO's. Also have check stock available to pay vendors who insist on payment before you can get your system up and running. We also have a plan to record inventory transactions in an access database until the system comes up. If we have no electricity, all transactions will be recorded on paper.

We access our Oracle databases through a LAN. If the LAN is down, we are providing a number of PCs hooked directly into the server. If the Citrix server is down, we will employ FAT client.

Since we are a utility, we really take our plans seriously. Some of you may think it is overkill and will simply wait until the system comes back up.

WE WON'T BE UP AT THAT TIME....PLANNED OUTAGE BETWEEN 24 DECEMBER AND 15 JAN - ALSO UNDERTAKING MAINTENANCE IN THIS PERIOD.
